Hi Everyone,
Some of you did not get my last update because I used the laptop with an old
address book, so I'll start with a quick recap.
I went to a doctor's appt on Friday the 21st and my BP was up. She sent me
to the hospital for tests and they kept me until Sunday morning. All my
blood work and the 24 hour urine test came back fine & my BP did go down
while I was lying down. The girls were doing great all this time - passing
NST's & BPP's with flying colors! I have been on bedrest all week.
A visiting nurse was supposed to come during the week, but didn't show.
I had another appt Thurs night and after waiting almost an hour, we got to see
the doc & my BP was up again. She sent us back to the hospital and
they did more blood work and did an NST on the girls - everything was fine and
within 1/2 hour my BP was fine and they let me go home. They are concerned about
pre-eclampsia which can happen when BP's are high, so they are being really
cautious. All the lab work has shown no signs of it though. I have
been very good about resting on my left side (best position for blood flow to
the babies) & I think they would find my BP much better at home then when I
have to go in for appts!
My doc is still aiming for a c-section at 38 weeks unless I go into labor
sooner. I am 34 weeks today. She won't do one sooner unless my BP
goes way up & my labs show signs of pre-eclampsia. She wants them to
"cook" as long as possible!
We have an appt at the hospital tomorrow a.m. for another NST and a BP check
& if they are ok I won't have to stay. I'll see my doc Monday night
& we have a BPP on Wednesday, but I could end up hospitalized at any time.
During the NST's(non stress tests) they monitor both heartbeats and look for
increases associated with movements. They record for 20 min - 30 min and
see how the babies do. The results can tell them if the babies are in
distress.
When we were there on Thursday, Baby A had the hiccups and we could hear the
sensor getting bumped and watch it & my belly jump every time she hiccupped
- it was really neat! The poor thing had them for about 10 min, though!
The girls have still been really active - more squirming and turning than
kicking and flailing now since space is getting tight!
I was lucky to get to go home Sun, since my baby shower was being held that
afternoon! We had alot of fun & the girls got many great presents!
I'm glad we didn't miss it.
I will try to answer individual emails this week on the lap top if I don't end
up back in the hospital - bear with me though - it's hard to type while lying on
your left side!
We hope everyone is doing well - take care!
Love,
Denise & Buddy, parents of Zachary Michael b/s 7/26/99 & Little Girls
