Hi Everyone,
Had another doctor's appt today. It was with my doc's colleague, the maternal fetal specialist. He didn't listen for heartbeats because I am just 12 weeks and he said it may be hard to find them and almost impossible to distinguish between the two babies. I have my 1st Level 2 ultrasound scheduled for Monday, so he didn't send me for an u/s today. So we have to wait 5 more days to be reassured that the Little Ones are ok.
We have an appt at New England Medical Center in Boston on Monday for a consultation with a high risk OB and then for the u/s. My doc and her colleague want us to have as many opinions as possible to make sure we are doing everything we can to make sure these babies arrive safely. He did not prescribe the antibiotics because a new study he just read said they may not help, so he wants us to discuss it with the doc on Mon. They also want us to talk with her/him (not sure which) about the baby aspirin since it is still controversial.
He told me to have them schedule my next level 2 for 20 weeks and hopefully this time we can get an appt at South Shore Hospital, which is much easier to get to! He also has me going for an u/s to check fetal heart tones just before my next appt with my doctor on the 28th of March. This way they can check the heartbeats and make sure both babies are ok.
My blood pressure was up a bit again, but I knew it would be since I have been stressing about him finding heartbeats (actually about NOT finding heartbeats), but that was all for nothing! My "all day" sickness has gotten much better, but I am still exhausted! Now that the 1st trimester is over maybe I'll get a little more energy. Work has been crazy, so of course that doesn't help - some days the thought of being put on
bed rest actually starts looking good! (Remind me I said this if I do end up on
bed rest and am complaining about being bored!)
Well that's about it - thank you all for your positive thoughts and prayers - it really does help! We'll let you know how the u/s goes on Monday.
