Hi Everyone,
Sorry this update is a little late. We had a regular appt with a quick u/s to check the babies' heartbeats. There are still two little hearts beating away! Baby A was 132 and Baby B was 151. This time it was Baby B that wasn't cooperating - it took a few minutes for the tech to get a good shot of the HB! My doc said a range of 120 - 160 is fine.
My blood pressure was better, but still a little high, but my doc is happy with it for now. She had the report from the high risk doctor and there was nothing new in it. Her recommendations were to stay on the baby aspirin, put me on BP meds if it goes higher, to have monthly u/s and to check for Gestational Diabetes sooner than normal.
My regular doctor had me take the 1 hour GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test) on Tuesday and then we'll have it done again later. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this, what they do is have you drink a yucky drink (tastes like flat Sprite with xtra sugar!) and then after exactly 1 hour they take blood to test your sugar levels. If you flunk this one, they give you a 3 hour test - you have the drink and then they take blood samples over a 3 hour period.
The doctor's office called today and my sugar level was fine, but my iron is low, so they are going to have me take iron supplements.
My next regular appt will be on 4/25 and it will be with the third OB/GYN at the center. My doc wants me to know all of them. She also said they have discussed my case at their staff meetings - so they are all familiar with me. It's kinda strange to be the topic of conversation at the doctor's office!
The Level 2 u/s and genetic counseling is scheduled for next Wednesday 4/5. If the babies cooperate, we should be able to find out the sexes. It will be great to see them again, especially with the better equipment. We're just hoping that all is well with both of them.
My doc wants us to schedule HB checks by u/s before each visit instead of trying to locate them with the doppler and try to figure out which is which. We all agreed that it will be better on our nerves and hers! Buddy and I figure if we can get on a schedule of alternating the fetal heart tones u/s and the regular u/s we'd only have to wait and worry about two weeks in between them! :-)
I haven't felt anything yet that I can definitely say is one of them moving, but I'm only 16 1/2 weeks. Hopefully over the next 2 or 3 weeks I'll start feeling them.
I'm attaching some more u/s pics. These ones aren't as clear as the last ones, but the tech did get a neat shot of their two heads together. Hopefully these are sized better for viewing! If anyone doesn't feel up to looking at u/s pics, I completely understand - just delete 'em and if at a later time you'd like to see them, I can always resend them, ok?
My doc still wants me to stop working around 27 weeks (the time when Zachary died) which will be in the beginning of June, unless something comes up before then, but so far so good!
Thanks again for all your prayers and positive thoughts - only 23 1/2 weeks to go! Hope everyone is doing well - take care!
Love,
Denise & Buddy, parents of Zachary Michael b/s 7/26/99 and Little Ones edd 9/8/00
