Hi Everyone,

The girls passed the BPP with flying colors! I didn't think it was possible, but I fall in love with them more and more everytime I see them! They were moving and kicking all around and I got some good views of each of their faces. Both fluid levels are fine and both were "breathing".  This means that they are making breathing motions, but of course there is no air, so they call it "practice breathing".  A's heart rate was 144 and B's 151 - both are doing great.  Baby A looked like she has turned transverse (she was head down) and Baby B has been transverse all along. No big deal, since my doc is talking c-section anyway. I have a level 2 u/s next week and we'll see how much they've grown and I have a regular appt next Friday.

We had also gone to a breastfeeding class, a twins class and Buddy went to "Bootcamp for New Dads".  The breastfeeding class was very informative and the lactation consultant that gave it was really nice.  She gave us the realistic picture of how things will be.  The hospital has alot of support available and she made sure we knew how to get help if needed.

The "Bootcamp" was on Saturday morning.  It's a 3 hour session and "veteran" dads bring back their 3 month olds and give the new Dads a chance to see how to take care of the infants.  They also gave them the real picture of how things will be and advice on how to survive! :-)

The twins class was great, too. It also included a pre-term labor section as well. The instructor (a nurse at the hospital and mother of twins) gave us alot of great tips and advice. The best part was that we got to have a tour of the special care nursery.

It was hard going up to the maternity floor, but the nursery is in the opposite direction than the L & D rooms we were in last year. In the nursery there was a set of triplets born 2 weeks ago @ 32 weeks. The 2 boys were each over 3 lbs, but the little girl was just over 2 lbs. One of the nurses was holding her and she was so incredibly tiny! Buddy said the doll they were diapering in his "Bootcamp" class was bigger than she was! She was very alert, though, looking all around and they said she is doing very well. It was just incredible to see how tiny some of these babies were and the fact that all of them were doing well is so amazing.

We also got to go in the regular nursery - those babies looked so huge! There was one little boy that had been born about 2 hours before while we were starting our class. It was such a great experience seeing them all.

We have one more class on the 28th - newborn care and safety.  The hospital really does a great job with the classes they offer and the costs are very reasonable.

Buddy already scanned the u/s pics I got yesterday and they are on the web site - it's just missing this update!  Make sure your speakers are on, Buddy added a surprise. :-)  http://h006008a5934b.ne.mediaone.net/ultrasounds/

Take care!

Love,

Denise and Buddy, Parents of Zachary Michael b/s 7/26/99 and Little Girls edd 9/8/00
